Evangelist Billy Graham once said, "We are not cisterns made for hoarding, we are channels made for sharing." This quote sums up the loving life of Michael Car, Creator and Founder of Live 2 Know Him Ministries. In fact, the ministry was borne exactly out of that - a love to share. Michael's passion was to share God's principles of love with anyone and everyone who would listen. After reaching a low point of weighing nearly 500 pounds and being sentenced to a drug rehab program - God intervened in Michael's life and began the healing process. Michael personally experienced Jesus Christ and was convinced it's not what you know its who knows you.
Michael made his home in Northern California where he enjoyed the outdoors with friends and family. When Michael wasn't fighting for freedom and peace - he was riding his mountain bike with Tequila and Luna - his two canine buddies; meeting a friend for lunch; helping someone somewhere with something; smiling; laughing and sharing God in the way he lived life and touched others.
Aside from Michael's primary goal of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he was a great cook and loved studying nutrition and health - especially after experiencing his own personal life transformation. He also loved classic rock like Led Zeppelin and Journey and would sing at the top of his lungs for you and if the Giants were playing - look out! We always knew who to call for the score. Mike was not shy - he loved people and he loved public speaking. He could not help but share with others what God had shared with him and he was good at it! He taught enthusiastic bible studies at his home church, led out a men's group and gave occasional sermons.
He taught us many things like patience, humor, and joy. What stands out most clearly was his kindness and unconditional love. He was an empathic friend who would not hesitate to send a voicemail or email telling us just how much God loved us and how much he, Michael, loved us. One of his favorite mantras was, "Everyone is a treasure!" And he meant it.
Rest in Peace our dear brother, friend and colleague. We have hope, Michael, that some day we will meet up again and until then, we will carry on the mission of eternal life - Living to Know Him just like you'd enourage us to. Michael J. Car January 1962 - October 2010
